This is an often-mentioned negative side effect of the current system. The truth is that seldom are many haulers serving one neighborhood. And we're almost never there at the same time. As an example, there are several neighborhoods in which one hauler serves approximately 95% of the residences.
There is basically no "congestion" caused by our trucks, the noise is minimal, and very short-term, and the pollution may not be diminished when a more massive truck is required to service county under this new proposal (see "Govt run service will be better?" above). So what's next? Will the Commission attempt to limit the days that Fed Ex and UPS can deliver into neighborhoods? What about DHL, local couriers, furniture delivery trucks, building contractors, number of cars per household?
So rather than add another government mandate, we have offered an alternative to this and are willing to work with the Solid Waste Department on standardized pickup days to help address this issue.
