We Want to Help

In Summary

We understand that some of you may be skeptical of our position — thinking that we are only fighting this for purely selfish reasons — because we want to save our businesses. And you would be partially correct. All of us have families to support, as well as good, loyal employees that count on our jobs to support their families. Any of you that own businesses understand what we’re talking about — and we bet that if any of you saw your jobs, your businesses or your way of life needlessly threatened, you would do the same as we are doing.

But we have another even more important reason that we are fighting this — we know the proposal the Commission is considering is not the best solution. We also know that our concepts for other options WILL work. That they will help improve recycling in the county.

This past year, this community proved it can come together for a cause when we all focused on reducing our personal water use during the drought. We know the same success can come about for recycling and we know that we, the local sanitation companies, can be a major partner in that process.

We are supplying the e-mail addresses of the Athens-Clarke Mayor and Commission and would appreciate it you would take the time to tell them how you feel about this.

And please sign up for our e-mail updates. We have no idea how long we may have to challenge this process, but we do know we need your support.

Thank you for your time and your interest

Sincerely,
The local waste haulers of Athens-Clarke County
